A few days ago we encountered one of the oldest animals in the ocean. On our dive site Helicopter we spotted 2 horseshoe crabs that looked like they were mating.
Facts about this amazing creature:
– They are one of the oldest animals on the planet. Often called “Living fossils”. Horseshoe crabs ancestors can be traced back to around 445 million years ago, 200 million years before dinosaurs existed 😱
They are actually more closer related to spiders 🕷scorpions 🦂and ticks.
